and win a MacBook Pro

We’re hosting Build on incident.io, a month-long competition in August that invites builders (like you!) to create an app using our new MCP server, API, or webhooks. The winner will be selected by a live audience at SEV0 San Francisco on September 23 — and will receive the new MacBook Pro.

How it works

ℹ️
You must be a user of incident.io to access the API and MCP. You can become a user by beginning a free trial
  1. Sign up to enter the competition — we’ll send you everything you need to know
  2. Build an app using at least one of the following:
  3. Submit a link to a public GitHub repository by Monday, September 15
    • All submissions will be made open source to showcase the community’s creativity and help future builders.
    • Please see Documentation requirements below.
  4. An internal panel will select a shortlist of top 3 apps on Friday, September 19
  5. On September 23 at SEV0 San Francisco, a live audience will select the winner

Documentation requirements:

The Github repository you share with us should have the following documentation:

Required files:

  • Each README.md must include a clear project title with a concise description of what the application does and its key features. Provide step-by-step installation instructions, commands to run the application, and list all technologies/frameworks used. Add screenshots or demo links to showcase functionality, and document any known bugs or limitations judges should be aware of.
  • CONTRIBUTING.md - How others can contribute (if applicable)
  • LICENSE - Clear licensing terms

Judging

We’re looking for powerful, creative, or downright weird apps using our MCP server, API, or webhooks. Our internal panel and SEV0 crowd will be looking at:

  • Creativity and originality — Is this something we haven’t seen before? Does it make us go, “Whoa, that’s clever”?
  • Technical implementation and functionality — How well is it built? Is the code clean, stable, and efficient? Did it make good use of the MCP server, API, or webhooks?
  • Usefulness and potential impact — Does this solve a real problem or meaningfully improve the incident experience? Would someone in the real world actually use it?
  • “Wow” factor — It’s intangible, but you know it when you see it. Does this project stand out above the rest?

Our example:

The Incident Command center

A tvOS app that transforms your Apple TV into a real-time incident.io dashboard for war rooms and operations centers. It displays live incidents from your incident.io workspace in a 3-column grid with color-coded status indicators, automatically refreshing every 30 seconds. The interface is optimized for Apple TV remote navigation and large-screen viewing, making it perfect for NOCs, engineering offices, and incident response spaces that need constant visibility into their incident.io incidents.
